Wet grinding machine
Continuously cleaning system
New technologies for even more performance
The new
EM 5 NII/L 1400 wet grinding machine from the manufacturer Ernst ist now available at the plant in Berlichingen.
With the new machine, LTI can expand its deburring expertise with a view to the much wider range of parts and the rounded edges that can be produced. The large sheet width allows the processing of sheets up to a width of 1400 mm.
With the use of a flexible grinding roller and two nylon rollers rotating against each other, rounded edges up to approx. 0.2 mm can be produced.
Furthermore, in our plant in Boxberg-Bobstadt a new
ZD 7000 RASKAT continuously cleaning system from the manufacturer Zippel has been taken into operation.
With the new machine, components are directly cleaned on our own premises after forming or shape cutting and are prepared for the next process stages such as welding or coating. This represents significant time and cost savings for our customers.
With the continuous cleaning system for steel and stainless steel, parts up to 400x400 mm in size can be cleaned. The system has two process stages for cleaning and rinsing as well as
a process stage for preservation and parts drying.

Successful start of apprenticeship at LTI-Metalltechnik
The economic recession has effected many business, however on the 1st of September 2009, 21 trainees started their apprenticeship with LTI Metalltechnik the company wish to focus on young employees whom they can educate within the company.
In order to begin the apprenticeship programme in a creative manner, LTi held an ‘introductory’ week for all of the trainees. During this first week, information regarding the apprenticeship and about LTI Metalltechnik were provided. Beside the theoretical contents the LTI-Youngsters also had the opportunity to get to know each other. The highlight of the programme for many was the excursion to the “Forest Jump” venue where there was a recreational ‘rope’ course in Walldürn. During the team building exercises, the youngsters learnt important lessons such as the significance of teamwork, good coordination and team communication.
Since 2008 the company has struck a new path with the name “LTI-Youngsters”. It means that the trainees of different domains direct their “own small-scale company”. This project should encourage independence, and the spirit of teamwork.
LTI-Metalltechnik encourages its apprentices to look beyond his/her inmitial occupational area and reach towards a new concept of traineeship. The LTI-Youngsters also have the opportunity to take over the whole customer advisory service: they develop, produce, calculate and take orders, as well as sending invoices and delivering the products to the clients. Through activities and opportunities like this, the LTI-Youngsters have the chance to witness all the functions of an industrial company and the chance to learn how a corporation works.
The apprenticeship with LTI-Metalltechnik can be a “qualification for the future”. Those who are familiar with LTi Metalltechnik also understand that with efforts and persistence, you can succeed after your traineeship and perhaps have the opportunity to gain employment.
The phase of application for the year 2010 has already commenced. Applicants can find further information on the company’s homepage:
http://www.lti-metalltechnik.de Here, you can find the apprenticeship vacancies and further information. Please note that all applications should be addressed for the attention of our Human Resource Department. The deadline for applications for 2010 entry is at the end of October 2009.

Straight from the EuroBLECH 2008 to LTI – the new TruPunch 5000
The TruPunch 5000 is the latest punching machine generation to be developed by the producer Trumpf. The exceptional features of this machine are its outstanding acceleration values and a Y axis gantry drive: Two separate motors are synchronously controlled without mechanical connection, ensuring extreme acceleration and precision.
The TruPunch 5000 is equipped with an active bottom die which operates like a second punching head from below. It is designed to permit scratch-free punching at unprecedented speeds.

Added capability at LTI – the new coil punching centre
The coil punching centre comprises several assemblies and was developed to achieve greater flexibility and production output compared to traditional punching/nibbling machines. It permits the adjacent or series production of part families with different hole patterns and lengths directly off the coil without the need for tool changing or any other downtime. The result: substantially higher capacity coupled with a minimized part inventory.
The system unites the benefits of coil material with the flexibility of a punching/nibbling machine and the high productivity of a pressing plant. You too can benefit from the cost benefits of this new technology – we look forward to receiving your enquiry!

Expansion of press capacity in the field of ventilation technology – the new straight-sided drawing press
The new straight-sided drawing press permits LTI to operate at substantially higher press speeds and forces. With a pressing force of 400 tons in the blank holder, 250 tons in the slide and 160 tons in the draw cushion, the straight-sided drawing press has been equipped with plenty of force to tackle future challenges.
The integrated draw cushion represents a major improvement. It allows nozzles to be formed from above and below in a single work process. The larger mounting height also allows the use of complex tools and improved ergonomics due to greater freedom of movement when inserting and removing the parts.

TruLaser 2525 (2D flat bed laser cutting machine) – LTI’s latest acquisition
Additional laser cutting capacity is now available at LTI with the acquisition of the new TruLaser 2525 from Trumpf. The TruLaser 2525 is a tried and tested compact laser cutting machine whose additional Y axis substantially reduces processing times and guarantees outstanding economy. The intelligent use of a double axis has brought about a big improvement in terms of the machine’s dynamics and response time. This results in markedly shorter machining times and increased productivity, particularly when working with parts comprising mainly small contours.
